Monoprinting & mixed media 


workshop


Monoprinting is an immediate and exciting medium to explore. It is like drawing, painting and printmaking combined, yet the instant results produce uniquely attractive marks. This two day workshop will instruct you in the various techniques of monoprinting without a press. Artist and tutor Kerry Wilson will guide you through the processes to create a series of prints. Delve into the capabilities of mixed media with monoprinting. Expand and freshen your arts practice with exciting new techniques and ideas.

Sunday Studio at Butter Factory

Join drawing and painting classes at the Butter Factory Arts Centre with Kerry Wilson. Six Sunday morning sessions provide hands on activities and projects to explore drawing and painting techniques and styles. Express yourself whilst learning skills and discover just how liberating the creative process can be. The Sunday Studio caters for beginners and experienced artists alike.

Drawing with Kerry Wilson 


At Murray’s Art & Framing Art Workshop in Toowoomba.

Learn basic drawing techniques and expressive mark making in this weekend workshop. Discover chiaroscuro (light/dark), tonal reduction techniques and elements of mixed media while focusing on the medium of charcoal. Quick gestural drawing exercises will combine with more worked and layered drawing studies. Investigate still life, portraits and landscapes while trying different papers. This workshop is a great place to discover how stimulating and liberating drawing can be. Beginners will be inspired and the experienced will freshen approaches and extend their art practice.

Explorative Drawing


McGregor Winter 2017

3 - 7 July

USQ - Toowoomba, QLD.

This explorative drawing class will engage you in daily activities, projects and games in a variety of media such as graphite, charcoal, ink, pastel, acrylic paint and gesso on different papers. Quick gestural exercises are combined with more sustained application to drawing. Basic drawing techniques and expressive mark making blend to create contemporary drawings.

Investigate a range of subjects; still life, landscape, life drawing and abstraction while experimenting with an array of techniques; chairoscuro, collage and layering of media.

This class is a great place to start drawing and for the experienced will freshen approaches and extend your art practice. Realise the stimulating and liberating possibilities drawing can provide. Have fun, look at things differently, move the grey matter, connect the hand, eye and mind. Kerry will guide you through the dynamic language of drawing.

The artwork of Kerry Wilson focuses on contemporary Australian landscape.

Painting and drawing in a variety of media, her work is grounded in the romantic tradition of landscape, yet explores and combines contemporary approaches.

As an artist and active teacher for over 20 years, Kerry is passionate about art, aiming to promote and celebrate art through exhibiting her work and teaching. Kerry holds solo exhibitions and joins group shows regularly. She has a Graduate Diploma in Painting from Sydney College of the Arts and several teaching qualifications.

From Realism to Abstraction

A Mixed Media Workshop  At Caloundra Regional Gallery 

Guided by artist Kerry Wilson participants will explore basic processes to deconstruct realistic imagery through experimenting with mark making, chiaroscuro, reduction, layering, subtracting and distorting.

Material list: (what to bring) charcoal, graphite, kneadable eraser, white conte, gesso, black ink, felt tip pen, assorted brushes, soft pastels, A2 cartridge paper, sheets mixed media drawing paper (ie draw & wash), sheet black paper, fixitive, glue stick, collage papers, fold back or bulldog clips, plastic containers and lids for water, ink and palettes, apron and/or old clothes, camera (optional)

Realistic to Abstract

Workshop


6 & & January 2017

Neram, Armidale, NSW. 


Explore the basic processes to deconstruct realistic imagery through experimentation with mark making, chiaroscuro, reduction, layering, subtracting and distorting. Mixed media such as graphite, charcoal, ink, gesso, shellac, acrylic paint, oil pastel and/or oil sticks.

Investigate realistic subject matter to discover ways of creating abstract images that have personal meaning and visual appeal.

Quick gestural exercises and shorter drawing activities will combine with longer more sustained and layered applications in mixed media work.

Kerry Wilson will guide you through the dynamic language of abstraction in this two-day workshop.

Day 1 subject matter focuses on every day objects and interiors.

                                                          Day 2 subject matter will be plants and landscape.
